How to register marriage in the United States

ก่อนอื่นตรวจสอบสอบวัตถุประสงค์ของท่านในการจดทะเบียนสมรส

 - เพื่อขอปรับสถานะจากการแต่งงาน Adjustment Of Status ท่านต้องรอ 90 วันหลังจากเดินทางเข้าอเมริกาจึงไปทำการยื่นของ Marriage License
 - เพื่อนำไปยื่นวีซ่าคู่สมรส Spouse VISA  (CR1) มาจากไทย  ท่านสามารถยื่อขอ Marriage License ได้ทันทีเมื่อเข้ามาอเมริกา

ขั้นตอนการจดทะเบียนสมรสที่อเมริกามีดังนี้ค่ะ

1 ขอ marriage lincense ที่ city hall หรือ court house ใกล้บ้านนะค่ะ แจ้งเขาไปว่าจะใช้นามสกุลสามีหรือนามสกุลตัวเองหลังแต่งงาน (บางเมืองจะไม่มีให้กรอกเอกสารในส่วนนี้) 65$
         เอกสารฝั่ง  American Citizen
          - Passport / ID
          - Divorced Certificate (If any)

          เอกสารฝั่ง คู่สมรสชาวไทย
        - Passport
        - Birth Certificate  with Translate ( สำหรับบางรัฐ)
2 ถ้าเจ้าหน้าที่เรื่องเอา marriage license ไปทำพิธี Civil ceremony ว่ามีใครรับทำได้บ้าง ค่าใช้จ่ายเท่าไหร่ หรือจาก ทำ พิธีเสร็จ เขาถึงจะเซนท์ใบmarriage license ให้
3 พอเขาเซนต์เสร็จ เราเอากลับไปยื่นที่ city hall / court house เพื่อขอทะเบียนสมรสค่ะ

How to Register a Marriage in the United States

First, check your purpose for registering your marriage:

If it’s for Adjustment of Status (AOS) after marriage:

You must wait 90 days after entering the U.S. before applying for a Marriage License.

If it’s for a Spouse Visa (CR1) to bring your spouse from Thailand:

You can apply for a Marriage License immediately upon arriving in the U.S.

Marriage Registration Process in the U.S.

1. Apply for a Marriage License

Go to the City Hall or Courthouse near your home.Tell them whether you will use your husband’s last name or keep your own after marriage (some cities may not have a section for this on the form).

Fee: around $65

Documents required for the American citizen:

• Passport or ID

• Divorce Certificate (if applicable)

Documents required for the International spouse:

• Passport

• Birth Certificate with English translation (required in some states)

2. Civil Ceremony

Ask the officer where you can have a Civil Ceremony performed, who can conduct it, and the cost.

After the ceremony, the officiant will sign the marriage license.

3. Return the signed Marriage License

Bring it back to City Hall or the Courthouse to officially register your marriage and obtain your Marriage Certificate.
